Christian Juslin was born in Åland, Finland. He began his music studies at the department of Church Music at the Sibelius Academy and graduated as a voice major. He studied opera singing with Björn Blomqvist, Peter Lindroos and Jorma Hynninen. He has also participated in master classes given by Jeffrey Goldberg in New York and by Bruno Pola in Italy.
Christian Juslin began his opera career in Stockholm in 2000, appearing in the role of Alfredo in La Traviata at Folkoperan. Christian Juslin’s opera repertoire includes the roles of Macduff (Macbeth), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Pollione (Norma), the title role in Verdi’s Otello, the Duke (Rigoletto), Alfredo (La Traviata), Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly), Don José (Carmen), Rodolfo (La Bohème) and Jonathan (Kung Karls jakt [The Hunt of King Charles]).
Before his opera career Christian Juslin has worked as a highly versatile musician, having been employed as a church organist, a choir conductor and an orchestra conductor around Finland and in the Nordic countries, conducting works such as Mozart’s Requiem and Lars-Erik Larsson’s Förklädd Gud (Disguised God). Christian Juslin is often engaged as a concert and oratorio soloist, such as Die Schöpfung (Haydn), Requiem (Verdi and Mozart), Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven) and Krönungsmesse (Mozart).
It should be mentioned that he was the soloist in the choir Ylioppilaskunnan Laulajat (YL – Student Union singers) during their celebrated tour to China and Singapore in 2006. He has also frequently appeared as a soloist in choral works such as Pärt’s St John Passion, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass and Mass in C minor, and Saint-Saëns’s Christmas Oratorio. He has given recitals in Finland and also in Singapore, China, Italy, Germany, Iceland, Sweden and Norway. Not only has he worked as a concert singer in all the Nordic countries, but also in Germany, Italy and Austria.
