Kristina Hansson /Soprano
In recent years Kristina Hansson has emerged as one of Sweden’s most interesting young sopranos. With her strong convincing stage persona and irresistible timbre she consistently attracts great attention on opera stages and concert halls.
Kristina studied at The Music Academy of Piteå, Malmö Music Academy and the University College of Opera in Stockholm. She has received numerous prestigious awards, e.g. the Jenny Lind Award, the Royal Academy of Music Baroque Award and the Christina Nilsson Award. Kristina was also a semi finalist in Placido Domingo’s Operalia 2002.
In the season 2001-2002 Kristina Hansson was invited by Gian Carlo Menotti to participate in the Vilar Gala Concert at the Spoleto festival. The same season she also made her debut at The Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm as Gabrielle in Offenbach’s La vie Parisienne and Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte. In 2002 she also made her debut at The Drottningholm Court Theatre in Youth and Folly by Du Puy. In 2003 Kristina Hansson sang Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier as her debut role at The Gothenburg Opera. She also made her German debut as Cloridoro in Melani’s L’empio punito with conductor Christophe Rousset at the Leipzig Opera and on tour to Montpellier. Her Italian debut followed in 2004 at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro. In autumn 2004 Kristina Hansson had tremendous success as Gilda in Rigoletto at the Gothenburg Opera. During this season she also sang The Fire and The Nightingale in L’Enfant et les sortilèges at The Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm.
The season 2005-2006 Kristina was a guest at Oper Leipzig as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and she sang Elisa in Il Re Pastore at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik. 2006-2007 she sang Zdenka opposite Nina Stemme’s Arabella in Christof Loy’s production at the Gothenburg Opera and performed in Keiser’s Brockes Passion with Les talens Lyriques and Christophe Rousset. In 2007 Kristina sang the role of Amitta in Telemann`s Der geduldige Sokrates with Renè Jacobs at Innsbrucker Festwochen, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin and in concerts in Hamburg and Paris. She was also soloist in Bruckner’s Grosse Messe Nr.3 with The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and sang Paulus in Oslo, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnins in Trondheim, Brahms’ Ein Deutsche Requiem in Stockholm and Britten’s Les Illuminations on tour with Norrbotten Chamber Orchestra.
2008 started with concerts of Mozart arias in Copenhagen with Adam Fischer, a return to Leipzig for further Konstanzes in Die Entführung and Kristina’s role debut as Amina in Bellini’s La Sonnambula for Malmö Opera with conductor Arnold Östman. In autumn of 2008 Kristina sings in the world première of Carl Unander-Scharin’s The Crystal Cabinet for Piteå Chamber Opera. In 2009 Kristina sings Mozart’s Zaïde for Classical Opera Company.
