    Daniel Hällström /Baritone

Swedish baritone Daniel Hällström received his musical and vocal educations at The Royal Academy of Music and at The Opera Academy in Copenhagen, graduating in 2004. During his training he has studied important roles of the baritone repertoire such as Tonio in I Pagliacci, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Belcore in L’Elisir d’amore, the title role in Alban Berg’s Wozzeck, Ford in Falstaff, the title role in Eugen Onegin, Wolfram in Tannhäuser as well as all the major baritone roles by Mozart.

On the opera stages Daniel has sung among others the parts of Dandini in La Cenerentola, the Father in Hänsel und Gretel, Schaunard in La Bohème, Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri at Tivoli in Copenhagen under Giancarlo Andretta, Bottom in Midsummer Night’s Dream at Det Kongelige in Copenhagen, Sheringham and Walsingham in B Tommy Andersson’s opera William for The Vadstena Academy and Gaston in Beauty and the Beast for Den Ny Teater in Copenhagen.

Daniel Hällström is often engaged as a concert and oratorio soloist for works such as Saul and The Messiah by Händel, B-minor Mass, Christmas Oratorio, the S:t John and S:t Matthew Passions by Bach and Förklädd Gud by Lars-Erik Larsson. He has collaborated with conductors such as Giordano Bellincampi, Nicholas Braithwaite, Tobias Ringborg, Andrew Greenwood, Jan Wagner, Giancarlo Andretta and Ion Marin.

In the summer of 2007 Daniel sang Morales in Lars Rudolfsson’s Carmen for Teater Hedeland in Denmark. As of the season 2007/08 Daniel Hällström is the leading lyric baritone of the ensemble of Oper Leipzig, a company for which he will be performing roles such as Escamillo, Papageno, Belcore and Marcello, as well as the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
